BlackBerry won't be removed from WhatsApp's list of supported platforms this year

If you recall, WhatsApp announced earlier this year that it will be ending support for several mobile platforms - including the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 - by the end of the year. Well, looks like there has been a slight change in that plan.

A quick look at the FAQ section on the mobile messaging service's website reveals that support for BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 has been extended to June 30, 2017.

Aside from BlackBerry, support for Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 platforms will also end on that date. Other platforms though - including Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, and iPhone 3GS/iOS 6 - will be removed from the support list as per the original plan (starting 2017).

Is no longer news that Whatsapp will no longer be working on blackberry phones. Well not only BB10 users that would suffer this fate, devices such as Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and Windows Phone 7.1 also will no longer be supported by WhatsApp at the end of 2016  ( December 31 )

This is because they want to concentrate on the platform that "vast majority of people use for the next seven years

If you own blackberry10 device and you don't want to let go of it, At the same time you equally can't do without your WhatsApp for the reason best known to you.

I have a tip that will enable you to continue using your WhatsApp in you bb10 device after December 31.

How To Use Whatsapp On BB 10 after December 31 2016

1. Install Opera browser (not Opera Mini) again from Google Play Store.

2. Start Opera browser in desktop mode, type in web.whatsapp.com. You will come up with common QR code.

3. Open Android whatsApp application already installed, open WhatsApp Web to scan the QR code.

4. On Opera browser immediately take a picture of the QR code with another mobile device, (You should be quick because the QR code keeps on changing after few seconds).

5. Now in WhatsApp application scan the QR code from the picture of the second Mobile device.

6. If you are quick and everything goes OK, then WhatsApp Web will start in your Opera browser.

7. Now you can send Media and files through WhatsApp Web on the same mobile device.

8. You can use the WhatsApp application for all other tasks including calls.

And for the Media and files you can use the WhatsApp Web on your Opera browser

9. Keep the Android whatsApp application open or minimized to use the WhatsApp Web in Opera browser.
